It's raining...

The temperatures here in NY dropped quite dramatically (at least for the last few days) and if you ignore the weather forecast, you get the feeling that the fall is here to stay.
It's rainy, kind of cold and the streets are filled with Hunter wellies. Im not a big fan but after spending the whole day with my feet soaked in water and my Jil Sander flats threatening to fall apart because of the rain, I think I will have to reconsider...

Still, I think I like New York better when it's rainy and cold, somehow it feels more romantic... I'm slowly discovering the city. Usually I'm very lazy when it comes to discovering and learning new places. Some of my friends would already know the best restaurants and the best shops, the best art galleries, museums, concerts etc...This is not my case. I barely go to museums and do not read tourist guides. It takes me forever to finally go somewhere and there are still many parts of NY I don't know very well. I have to admit that it took me almost three weeks to finally go to Barneys! Luckily I do have friends who know the city well and show me everything I need to see. On my own I tend to quietly enjoy the everyday life and avoiding tourist places as if I'm a real New Yorker ;)

On my last post a reader mentioned that she misses Milan pictures. This doesn't come to me as a surprise, because as much as I enjoy New York, the impact it has on me is not as deep. Even though I know so many people who loathe Milan, I kind of love it. This is what made me take so many pictures and add about 20 albums to my Facebook page during my stay there. The other day I noticed that we barely take pictures of New York, which is a shame because I love having pictures to look at and reminisce. So in the following posts I will try to document more of the city. It totally deserves a central place in my blog at this point.

Meanwhile here's another indoor photos. Im wearing one of the simplest and loved outfits. It cheers me up to wear florals when it's raining and I believe that with woolen tights and khaki jacket or parka ( I need to get one!) this outfit will continue to cheer me up until the late fall.

It's been too long!

I've never been a blogger who posts regularly, but this time my absence was probably too long...Im sorry for that, but the reasons are good!

I started an internship, and I really enjoy it: meeting new people and learning a lot! However it leaves me very little time for myself and while trying to make the best of NY...well the blogging suffers. A lot...

But this weekend I spent in, partly because of my laziness and partly because of the rain, so we had some time to take pictures. My boyfriend had this idea for quite a long time so today we finally decided to execute it.

We don't really invest in the apartment we have now because it's ours only for a short period of time and since I was really sad leaving my apartment in Milan, where I worked really hard to make it feel cozy and nice, this time I didn't even bother, because we have to leave it in a few months...So we have all this old furniture and no curtains...It is kind of creepy and very unwelcoming but it was a great setting for our mini photo shoot and we had a lot of fun :) We also did another outfit which has more of a 50's vibe to it, you will see it soon!

About the clothes: I was contemplating on this Comme des Garcons body for a while. I bought it at corso Como 10 outlet in November last year, and still didn't wear it...I was already thinking of selling it, but decided to try it on with this leather skirt I bought on Etsy for 7$ and it suddenly worked! No way I'm letting go of it now!
My shoe collection is really limited in NY (mainly because of overweight problems but also because I just don't wear heels here) so these were the only pair that worked quite well...

Now that I found a proper skirt for this top, it will get a lot of wear, once the cooler weather arrives :)

Hopefully soon I will get on track and find a balance and time to post more...

Kisses!!!

Too floral to think

The ongoing summer heat (and the humidity) making it oh so hard to be excited about dressing up or clothes, and still I developed a guilty pleasure...

It's nothing new, I get it every year, around August, I start daydreaming about fall and winter clothes. In the comfort of two (I am so grateful for that!) air conditioners I dream about cable knit sweaters, sixties (the new length!) skirts, camel coats, leather booties (Balenciaga please be mine!) and other things that make the upcoming season so exiting!

I am actually disappointed that this winter will most probably be spent in the not so cold Israel, and most of my fashion dreams will not have a proper environment (not so cold there) to be fulfilled in...Especially since last winter was a bit of a fashion blur for me. Not a big fan of Balmain and skinny pants, I struggled with finding my own way through the sequins/studs/padded etc...This winter, however was made for me. I am a big fan of what my boyfriend calls "grandma fashion" and the sophisticated grown up clothes with a modern twist make my heart beat so much faster! I have to admit: i am one of those blind Phoebe Philo followers and in my eyes she can do no wrong, I really admire what she has done with Celine and the general direction of fashion for the last couple seasons...

I have already started to collect vintage finds to help me build my wardrobe, since I can't afford Celine, Chloe, Balenciaga, Prada and Louis Vuitton pieces...One of my first finds is 70's Bill Blass vintage coat in mint condition, the perfect shape, fit , color and style!

I also plan to wear long skirts and dresses with slouchy grey sweaters with the must have item: a full circle leather/suede skirt in brown/rust hues (Zara/Castro/Vintage)...Spiced up with some military looking parka and my favorite floral dresses, I will be more than ready for fall winter 2011...

For now, Im living in floral dresses, this one is an old friend: I bought it more than 3 years ago and wore it every summer ever since...Not really creative or fashion forward but deeply loved :)

Unfortunately the little project I planned was postponed, hopefully I will have time to take pictures this weekend for it...Until then, have a great week!
