Different shades of blue

If you know Murphy laws, you probably know that it's usually sunny on week days and on the weekends: it rains...And this is the reason I didn't manage to snap more cheery photos, and also didn't have a chance to change a background...

Rain is also the reason I didn't get to go to the vintage market that happens every last Sunday of the month...well, I still have some time to catch it...
Instead, I stayed home, looking for some chalets for New Years, but I'm afraid we're a bit late: everything is taken...

Now, the outfit...As I said it before, I'm struggling with the limited amount of clothing I have here with me, it prevents many experiments and ideas to come to live and makes me a bit upset (Don't worry it happens only in the mornings when I'm deciding what to wear, I'm generally happy:) ) I'm already bit bored with what I brought, and I didn't have a chance to buy casual things, so I'm experimenting and waiting for sales :)

And that is why, I started using some dresses as skirts (as in the last post). So here's another variation for that idea: I always wanted to try on the long skirt/slouchy sweater look, it looks so comfy and relaxed...So I paired my new dress with a sweater to make it look more casual (Yes this is also an evening gown, did I mention my boyfriend's sister is also getting married this year?:) )

But I will stop wining, I still have enough clothes and it's only a matter of time until I have other clothes I left in Israel making their way to Italy :)

Buona notte...

Well, since my last post not much has been going on, I had a very calm and relaxed weekend...

We stayed at home, in front of our laptops and then just walked around the city a little bit and had a delicious dinner at our favorite sushi restaurant.

We love that it has a very relaxed atmosphere, and the place is bright...Honestly, I just can't eat when it's dark so I always prefer restaurants with a good lighting...So if you ever come to Milan you can visit Ume, for a simple relaxed dinner...

This outfit is a special one (and yes I'm ruining for those who know me well) because I'm planning to wear it to...a wedding, my brother's wedding to be exact...

They don't have a date yet, but I'm already prepared for it, shoes and everything...Though I will definitely loose the jacket because the dress has a very nice cleavage and some statement jewelry is required...

What I like about the dress is that it can be worn as a skirt, and I do love how structured it is with very interesting cut and a great volume. The shoes are one of the treasures I snatched at the outlet I was talking about in my last two posts, and I believe they are as versatile as they are timeless, I'm very in love with them!!!

We're getting into the Christmas mood with those lights, and I'm planning to put a tree here as well (I did it at home, why not here) and already found a good candidate...They starting to decorate the streets with Christmas lights and I couldn't be happier about it :)

Now, my mom is reading the blog and checking it every day, since I'm so far we talk only few minutes a day and I really miss her, and I didn't have a chance to tell her about my new outfit, so this is a message to mom, she doesn't know any English :)

Park Sempione

I have to admit, I don't really make the most of my stay in Milan so far, for example I rarely go to this beautiful park which is 5 minutes away from my home.

So this time instead of taking the bus, we walked through the park and took some pics on the way...I have to admit I'm quite tired this week so my main consern was comfort, and I needed to be warm...So many tests and presentations, I just wanted to sleep all day long...

It seems like my resort for simple clothing lately is combining color with black (Susana & Trinny wouldn't approve) and it reflects in my blog as well... But I believe this will pass soon, as I'm starting to long for patterns....

Desparate housewife Milan edition

In Italy, I discovered many things about myself...One of the most important is that I Actually Can Cook!!! I do :)

Recently I cooked seafood and vegetables risotto, onion soup, vegetable and mushrooms soups, hamburgers and many different dishes I never knew Iwas capable of making...I am impressed with my own skills actually, and so is my mom, who was sure I will starve in Italy...:)

Also I discovered that although I don't like cleaning, but I like when it's clean...so I clean and wash and dust :))) And this photos perfectly reflect me balancing between my new fashionable school environment and home environment where I don't really need nice clothes but actually ones I can ruin without any worries...

Well, I told you before, I will come back to Corso Como 10 outlet, and I did, because no place that sells Alaia shoes for 150 euros should be left behind...

I believe that this is a wonderful start of a great "shopping" friendship, but I also got introduced to the manger, Stefano, by my new friend Keren who is just great! She helped me in this shopping frenzy, as I was grabbing every shoe in my reach and almost went nuts!!! So many goods!!! And so many shoes by Alaia (Who is a shoe genius in my opinion) and for cheap!!!

So I ended up buying a pair of Alaia shoes (for my brother's wedding, at least I have an excuse) and Alexander Mcqueen boots, both of them for mere 150 euro!!! Now I know what many will say...It's still a huge amount of money..and it is for me... I will probably will cut on every expense possible the next two weeks or so...:)

The dress I'm wearing is Helmut Lang...it is the dress I ordered from Net-a-Porter a while ago and it is one of the most versatile I own...The shoes are Aldo and the clutch is vintage Lanvin from "Stella Boutique"...
P.S: This is my kitchen with all the empty wine bottles we always forget to throw away, and there was actually a dish on the stove but my boyfriend was cooking it :)

Kisses!!!

Give khaki a chance

I love green, I love almost every shade, but the khaki (olive?) shade is kind of hard to wear for many of us who had to spent two or three years of their lives wearing only this color...

So I stayed away from this specific shade, replacing it with grass green, pale green, jade etc...but no more. I'm giving the khaki green a chance. In my arsenal is a suede skirt and this army inspired dress, and I only wish i could find a great pair of pants, so I can recreate this look... I still think it's one of the most interesting and fresh looks I've ever seen...

For now, I went straight to my roots (and my grandmother's closet) and added this huge Russian scarf as an only accessory, but of course in this weather I have to add a coat :)

Dress: H&M, Scarf: Grandmother's, Tights: Castro, Shoes: Zara

P.S: Modepass did an interview with me, and it's now up, you can read it here :)

Wandering around the cemetery

There is so much to explore in Milan. And one of the most known places is the cemetery, which looks like a small city actually. Full of old graves with dramatical scenes and characters carved from the stones, it is impressive and fascinating place.

And very beautiful....

So I had to take pictures...:)

But our trip didn't end here...We decided to go to the Corso Como 10, mostly because I wanted to introduce this place to my boyfriend. Corso Como 10, is one of the most known shopping places in Milan, packed with designer clothing and books about art and fashion, it is every fashionista's destination...

But on our way there, we found even more precious gem: Corso Como 10 outlet...from the yard entrance you could see dozens of designers shoes...And I still can't explain why I didn't take those Marni wedges home...for mere 70 euros... I mean Zara carries shoes at those prices!!!

Anyway, the outlet was packed with many many goods and I am sure I will go back to check it more closely, because well...my boy has zero tolerance for designer shopping (especially outlet shopping), so we left...

Eventually I did buy something at Corso Como 10: a book about Chanel and her Atelier...so I didn't left empty handed...:)

So this has been my day so far...we're planning to go out to dinner tonight: somewhere nice, and tomorrow, we'll be wandering around somewhere else... :)

Blouse: Vintage YSL, Skirt+trench: Zara, shoes: Mango, Bag; Max Mara
P.S: A big thank you to my boyfriend who is not only agrees to photograph me but also made a guest appearance again! :)))

Kisses!!!

Feeling blue

Well, not really blue, but I am doing a lot of thinking right now...

Along with the perks of living in a fashion capital, i also got the "harsh" fashion reality in my face: luxury goods...Don't get me wrong, I do love bargains, but shopping in H&M after you just touched the divine silk of Alberta Ferretti is near to impossible...

We are being tought that fast fashion isn't real: it's for current trends but has nothing to do with serious and fine clothing or patternmaking. And after you compare the two you see the difference...and it makes it much harder to like H&M and it's colleagues...

Of course "fast fashion" as they call it here is still my main choice, but the question of quality versus quantity raised yet again: Should I buy one good item a month or should I buy many things and later forget them without any regrets? I'm still struggling to find a good balance...what is your solution usually? I mean we do have opportunity to buy quality clothes now even if we aren't their target market, there are outlets, Ebay, vintage designer goods...

I'm still undecided...

I have to admit: I bought this dress and haven't worn it out yet because it's too short for my taste but I still adore the dots and its' color pallet so I'm thinking of turning it into a blouse :) But for now, I will take advantage of the sixties "baby doll" vibe and have some fun with it...:)

Dress: vintage from "Stella" boutique, tights: bought for 3 shekels at the market, shoes: Chloe, Jacket: Zara.
