New favorite dress in action...

So I decided to publish as many posts as I can for now, since in about a week I'm not sure I will be able to update that often and my outfits will be mostly bathing suits and not much more...I probably will have some scheduled posts, but I'm not a big fan of those so we'll see...

This is my new favorite dress, from 2 posts ago. It's very versatile and the color makes it a perfect match to almost any other shade. I already paired it with a dark green jacket in New York and very eager to find new matches for it in my closet.

This time I decided to pair it with a simple grey sweater. I got my mine ages ago from Castro men's collection. Then I was looking for the slightly off oversized look, but in this case I would actually prefer a slightly more feminine round neck with shoulder seams in place, but you gotta work with what you have.

By now my craving for red is in its' prime, and makes me covet every red piece I see. Luckily i have 2 pairs of red flats to feed my addiction. But I have a feeling they will not be enough and I will have to look for a coat, a sweater or a pair of high heels as I said in a previous post, with more statement...For this dress though, I think flats are the way to go if you're choosing red...

Have a great week!

Happy New Year!!!

My absence from the blogging world has probably more to do with laziness then with anything else, but I just couldn't miss the opportunity to wish everyone Happy New Year, hope this year will be great for all of us.

Our friends are visiting us here and we'll spend New Years evening together, mostly drinking and having fun, but also we plan to ski (too bad we didn't think of this earlier and didn't manage to find a chalet near the ski resort...)
After the celebrations I'm preparing for quite an exciting month, guests and trips and tests...it's going to be busy but fun!

This year there will be no presents, as we're trying to stick to the budget + sales start on January 2nd, so it would be silly to buy full price...hope to score some good deals and finally indulge in Zara (haven't bought anything there since I came to Milan!).

This dress, however is Zara, and I love the 60's vibe it has along with the tweed texture. My mom bought it for me before I left Israel, and that's what makes it even more special...
A string of pearls to channel thaqt classic look, Chanel lipgloss, and I'm ready to meet the New Year!:)

As I promised (I'm very late with the pics and some of you have probbly seen them on my Facebook ) here are some pics of Milan in Christmas, it is beautiful indeed.

Happy New Year!!!

Feeling blue

Well, not really blue, but I am doing a lot of thinking right now...

Along with the perks of living in a fashion capital, i also got the "harsh" fashion reality in my face: luxury goods...Don't get me wrong, I do love bargains, but shopping in H&M after you just touched the divine silk of Alberta Ferretti is near to impossible...

We are being tought that fast fashion isn't real: it's for current trends but has nothing to do with serious and fine clothing or patternmaking. And after you compare the two you see the difference...and it makes it much harder to like H&M and it's colleagues...

Of course "fast fashion" as they call it here is still my main choice, but the question of quality versus quantity raised yet again: Should I buy one good item a month or should I buy many things and later forget them without any regrets? I'm still struggling to find a good balance...what is your solution usually? I mean we do have opportunity to buy quality clothes now even if we aren't their target market, there are outlets, Ebay, vintage designer goods...

I'm still undecided...

I have to admit: I bought this dress and haven't worn it out yet because it's too short for my taste but I still adore the dots and its' color pallet so I'm thinking of turning it into a blouse :) But for now, I will take advantage of the sixties "baby doll" vibe and have some fun with it...:)

Dress: vintage from "Stella" boutique, tights: bought for 3 shekels at the market, shoes: Chloe, Jacket: Zara.

Sparkle

After a short break that seems like an eternity for the blog world, I'm back with pictures of my new dress...I'm sorry...My new favorite dress...!!!

Photobucket

I bought it from Etsy.com and I just cannot believe my luck! It has every feature I was looking for in a sequined dress and it's one of the kind, because it's vintage and all the sequins are hand stitched !!! You cannot believe the amount of work someone put in this dress...Well now it is in a very appreciative hands!!!

Me and the boyfriend decided that this dress requires a night photo shoot, although I can see how it is possible to make it more "day" appropriate with a grey cardi and a pair of flat boots... Maybe come fall I will show the toned down version of this dress, but right now it makes me feel festive and it sparkles!!!

The shoes are also a new buy from Aldo. I have to say that it's my first pair of heels from this brand and I'm impressed with how comfortable they are!

On a bit different note, I'm building my fall wardrobe right now and I mysteriously find myself returning to one color: black! I want everything and anything in black... Sleek, smart, fitted, that's what I want come fall... Maybe this is the returning student in me talking, but yes I do need some smart clothes for my school...

I remember when I did my first degree I was considered a bit too fancy looking for my college and I didn't even wear heels or something that I would consider "out there", so I hope this time I will get a chance to go crazy with my outfits!!!

Time is running out and I have this ticking clock inside my head telling me "So much to do, so little time" but somehow this just makes me to slow down and freeze instead of being productive...So I'm racing against the clock!

All dressed up (and nowhere to go)

Sometimes, when I feel kind of down or don't have the energy to go through the day, all it takes to cheer me up is to play a little "dress up"...a pretty dress like this sunny yellow dress from Zara can instantly recharge and take my energy levels to new heights...

This time I decided to take pictures and to add this cute headband to create this super girly and supper flirty look (a bit too dressed up for real life me, but great for dressing up at home:))) )

Photobucket

I also wanted to introduce you to my dog: Tobi. He's the only one who can instantly cheer me up and he is the sweetest and the most loving dog there is!

Photobucket

I actually never wore this dress out and still wait for the right occasion to come up...and it has been two years since I bought it. I plan to finally wear it next spring, dressed down with some edgy jacket or a simple grey cardigan and flats...

Desperate housewife

I always loved the 50's. Maybe it has something to do with this book my grandma had when I was little . It was a house keeping book and it had every tip and advice a housewife could possibly need: form vanishing spots on the furniture to sewing the perfect dress. Actually dresses had a place of honor in this book- it contained patterns, technical drawings and also a drawing of the dresses...My favorite occupation was coloring the dresses (the book was really old, so everything black and white). I still don't know what happened to it, I guess it didn't make it to Israel.

Anyway, I have a huge weakness for the 50's silhouette and the whole "new look" vibe. (Dior!)
So when I saw this dress last year at the store, I had to have it. I wear it really simple usually, with flats or even sandals to make the whole look of it more breezy and casual. But it has hidden potential of becoming the most typical 50's dress. I wish I had a crinoline to put under the skirt to "pump it up", but I don't!
This time I decided to dress up myself and to dress up Becky, for a little fun photoshoot, inspired by the 50's!:)

The problem of this dress is that it has fit issues on the front (it's not me, it's the dress!:)), and I wonder if I should fix it or leave it as it is?

Now I'm on the hunt for a real dress from that era, today will be all about wandering around Ebay and Etsy in a quest to find one.
