Autumn Leaves

Hey all,

I disappeared for quite some time, but only for good reasons...the main is that my photographer is out of the country for work and the only reason I could write this post is because his lovely sister volunteered to take some pics (Thank you Ira!!!)

Besides, I started school, found an apartment and life slowly starts to feel more real and not so touristy- like... Studies are great, I can honestly say that first time in my life I'm actually interested in what I learn and participate in classes, it feels great to know what it is like to love what you do...

Besides, I'm enjoying a great weather, although last week it was raining and cold, it is still a delight for me, and now it's quite warm but still feels like autumn and the golden leaves are the main reason...

Now fashion: I have met some very fashionable people in my school, cool girls and boys who love fashion with the same strength...Many of them have a very unique sense of style...

I have to say that I feel like I sometimes I need to redefine my Milanese self, because I can experiment with the way I dress more freely now... although make no mistakes...Milanese are very refined and elegant and fashionable but crazy outfits are not an usual sight on the streets of the city...

That's about it...Kisses!!!

Let some color in!!!

As much as I love neutrals and black&white combos, everyone who reads this blog knows that I'm a big sucker for color !

This outfit wasn't inspired or planed, but was built on a simple "matching". The color of the skirt matches perfectly the yellow hues of the blouse, and usually I would think this isn't a good idea, but it seems to work here.

Generally I decided that there's a lack of skirts in my wardrobe. I own about 5 black skirts, all of them different shapes, but I don't own a brown skirt, or for example an olive skirt...Lack of these two colors is driving me crazy, because I can't build outfits with my favorite fall hues (and I'm planning to take care of this problem next time I'm shopping)...

Other thing that's on my mind (I have plenty of course, but here's the place I talk about fashion related subjects so...) is packing. Yes, I didn't even start packing, but considering I have only one suitcase to bring there, it will be quite a short task... Not an easy one though :)
How do you pack for one year?  Basics mostly for me, but I also want to take some key pieces with me (it's a fashion school after all). Packing for winter is not easy also because on top of everything you have to bring boots, coats, scarves etc... anyway, you get the idea... I'm screwed!!! :)

Blouse: Hanae Mori vintage, skirt: Malene Birger. Shoes: Chloe, belt: Castro

P.S: Pardon me for my blond roots peaking in every pictures and looking like I have spots of hair missing...Visiting my hairdresser asap this week:)

DIY in process

This beautiful fabric was lying in my huge "to do something with it" pile for a while, until I decided to make a nice summer skirt out of it a couple of months ago, and then completely forgot about it.

Then, about a week ago I found it, and actually started the process! I didn't use any pattern because I hate patterns with passion and I can't do them well. When we started to study patterns at college, it suddenly hit me why most of the famous designers are men, it's like trigonometry or something! Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of girls who are amazing patternmakers but this is a very precise and time consuming thing, where every millimeter counts...so it's not for me...

Anyway, what I made is just fabric gathered on the belt, without any pattern. I'm thinking of maybe putting some sort of buttons and making a front closure, or just a hidden zip on the back...I'll make sure to post an outfit with the final result...

Kisses!

Pink craze...

Since my main obsession for this summer right now is pink (well, actually blush but never mind), I decided to search my closet for some forgotten pieces that will fit into my pink mood...
And of course I found some. I do have one blush blouse I found in Zara last summer and a skirt I received from my boyfriend's sister, but I'm still dreaming of that Zara dress...and the shoes...
To comfort me I found some clothes that go with my pink mood...until I get my wishes :)

The skirt is made from my mother's old dress. I absolutely love the print on this and will keep it forever...The dress is one of the few she took with her to Israel. It is such a shame my mother left all of her clothes when we came here. I remember her 70's chiffon dresses, her wedding gown, beautiful skirts and shoes to die for, all of which went to the dumpster because we were restricted in weight...

Pretty flowers in the exact same color I love so much...

This picture was taken last summer, the first time I wore the skirt...Didn't have anyone around so I took the pic myself...and it's horrible:)

The results

Well, while I gave up on my dream of being a fashion designer (I love clothes but not making them), I naturally still want my diploma, so here are the results of the design project I was talking about earlier...

I still have to add this knitted golden net over the shirt but the two garments are ready...I got some help with the top, since my sewing machine is from the 70's it cannot sew light fabrics nicely...

Later this week I'm doing a photo shoot with a professional photographer and a "model" but I couldn't wait to see how it looks so I made my mom to take a picture:) I made this top also in yellow (took a pic myself as you see) and I plan to live in them for the whole summer...light and breezy:)
So now I have to accessorize...I'm thinking chunky and edgy accessories...
