City lights

Sort of unplanned post, I just cannot miss the opportunity to take pictures each time we go up to the roof...it's breathtaking!

Im having the best time in NY, with frequent visits to Whole Foods store (I just love being there!) and window shopping in Barneys/Bergdorf Goodman. Still, I wish I could spend more time downtown and explore the vintage shops but the heat is making it much harder to enjoy walking around...

Speaking of Bergdorf Goodman, I didn't have the chance to visit it until this week, and it is one of the most impressive department stores/luxury retailers I have ever seen. Great selection of designers, amazing visual merchandising, great restaurant on the seventh floor...It was an outstanding (window) shopping experience, I spent 4 hours at the store and even though I didn't buy anything, I left completely satisfied and happy (I think the scallops and the chocolate mousse I ate at the restaurant have something to do with that though)...

Uniform

Photobucket

This picture was taken a few weeks ago at Bryant park. Im really excited that I will get to be in NY during the next fashion week (and one of my very good friends is coming, yayyyy!!!) Especially because I didn't get to enjoy the fashion week in Milan to the fullest. The 3 day schedule and my brother's wedding made it impossible to try to get into the shows or observe the fashion "crowd" from close.
I hope I will get the chance to do that in a few months here in New York.

What Im wearing here is one of my summer "uniforms". The Chloe blouse which I wore to death and a simple linen skirt I bought a couple of years ago were the perfect outfit for saturday spent shopping and walking around downtown.

Have a nice idea for the next post photos...have a great week!!!
Kisses!!!

New York!

I was contemplating about this post, because I wanted it to represent the city in the best way possible. And the perfect location was right in front of my nose, or more correctly right above: the rooftop of our building. I first got to enjoy it during the July 4th celebrations, with the amazing view on fireworks, but then it didn't occur to me that the roof is open all the time. So it's just a great place to hang out, or even get a tan.

Life in NY is so much different from life in Milan. In this case there is no better or worse, just different. New York is filled with energy, light, constant movement and Milan is calmer and much more settled, you don't get the feeling of a big city there. And while I do enjoy the city very much, I still miss the quiet streets, the food and my friends there...And Im wondering how my next visit to Milan will happen...

Besides the change Im still trying to adapt to, I'm also trying to adapt to the wardrobe change. What felt like a normal daily outfit in Milan, feels like overdressed in New York and so my wardrobe is going through changes. Third of it by the way is still in Milan, hopefully it will arrive some time in September with my friend Karen :)

The dress in this post is a new purchase. It's from the collaboration line of Uniqlo with Costello Tagliapietra, the design team I highly appreciate. Their work with drapery and jersey and their attitude towards dressing women and production of clothing is really impressing. One of my biggest projects in school were done about this duo and since then I was obsessed to have one of their dresses. Of course the price tag made it kind of impossible, so once I saw the capsule collection at the Uniqlo shop I tried almost every dress on, picking up this one, because it seemed the most versatile.

The shoes are Balenciaga from last year and the necklace came from young and very talented designer/stylist Noey.

Hopefully if everything goes well, from now on the posts should be more frequent as Im reunited with my photographer :)

Have a great week! Kisses!

Ciao Milano!

Two days ago, I packed all my things, left my sweet little apartment near the Sempione park and took a flight from Milan to New York.

I still can't believe that my Marangoni days are over along with my days as a student in Milan. The whole shift happened quite fast and I still have a huge suitcase waiting for me in there (I brought too many clothes there)...I am sure will be missing Milan, the streets, the pizza, the gelato, proscuitto, mozzarella, prosecco ...you get the point :) But mostly I will (and already am) miss my dear friends and the crazy times we had together...

The next couple of months I will be spending in New York, trying to meet some interesting people, enjoying good food and everything else the city has to offer...If you're here, write me, I will be happy to meet :)

The photos are taken last week on my birthday at one of my favorite streets in Milan, via Madonnina, it is right next to the Marc by Marc Jacobs shop and it is picturesque and beautiful...The dress is 10 euro vintage find at the monthly vintage fair and is one of my favorites this summer...
