Another DIY

This outfit isn't new but I like the fall colors of it (although I'm pretty much into spring right now) and I wear it once in a while.

There is no speciall skills that require making this dress, the knitted fabric does all the work. I just sew the sides together and left two holes for the sleeves. It really is that simple...I'm thinking of making a puffy skirt with the fabric I have left but this time the stripes will be horisontal...

The results

Well, while I gave up on my dream of being a fashion designer (I love clothes but not making them), I naturally still want my diploma, so here are the results of the design project I was talking about earlier...

I still have to add this knitted golden net over the shirt but the two garments are ready...I got some help with the top, since my sewing machine is from the 70's it cannot sew light fabrics nicely...

Later this week I'm doing a photo shoot with a professional photographer and a "model" but I couldn't wait to see how it looks so I made my mom to take a picture:) I made this top also in yellow (took a pic myself as you see) and I plan to live in them for the whole summer...light and breezy:)
So now I have to accessorize...I'm thinking chunky and edgy accessories...

Green and blue

I have a very long story with this dress...It's vintage, I suppose from 1970's...When I first saw it at my favourite vintage boutique, it was very expensive and long...and while I loved the long version, it was clear that I won't wear it as often as I would like...so I left it there...on every visit I came back to the dress, looked at it and once again left it at the shop...even half a price it was still too expensive...but then one day the shop had 50% off in addition to the previous discount, and the dress was shortened so it would be easier to sell it...and of course I bought it in a minute! for a quarter of it's original price!
I has a very delicate pattern and still has it's original belt which is nice...I decided to stay in the same color palette in the outfits, because I didn't want to loose the bright mood the dress has...but I think it would also look great with brown accessories and chunky heels...
The shoes are my first designer pair I bought (about 2 years ago). They're Dries Van Noten and they're not that comfortable as I expected them to be, but I love them...
Dress: Vintage
Jacket: vintage Celine (the second one is also vintage but without a label)
Scarf: Hanes

Treasure chest

Sometimes I love to take out all the lovely clothes I have: dresses, shoes, jewels, furs, whatever it is that makes me happy and just to display them or look and play with them...usually these are things that I don't wear but love anyway...like this Moroccan skirt that is waiting for some fun photo shoot or pearls from my mother's wedding, golden shoes that I wear but not too often, fake fur bolero I got on crazy sale, a dress from Mango outlet I wore to a wedding once, beaded handbag I received as a gift from Armenia and the list goes on and on ( One day I'll show you chiffon gowns I got almost for free from Zara)...It feels that my closet is a treasure box that I have to open and enjoy once in a while, because it's so easy to "get lost" in everyday clothes...

Accessories for the project

Photobucket

Besides the clothes, we're required to add 2 pieces to go with an outfit: a bag or a hair accessory or a necklace...

Well, I made this Little handbag, which took 5 hours and lots of pulled threads...I'm trying to think about the vibe of the whole outfit...I don't really want it to be too girly but more flirty and playful but still chic...And here accessories play a huge part. I'm thinking about chunky wooden shoes and wide brown belt, but still don't have it all figured out...

Today's outfit...

Photobucket

Today I wanted to wear something simple (I get that a lot lately) with no prints or texture...And generally I'm more of a texture/color kind of girl...I guess we all have our phases..:)

I'm wearing a vintage YSL Rive Gauche dress I bought in vintage boutique, Zara cardigan And boots...Originally I wore the outfit with my Chloe shoes but then it got cold and I switched to boots...

Today we had really interesting lesson at school about fashion media. Our lector was a successful fashion journalist that told us about how things work in Israeli fashion "world"...but I guess it's like that everywhere...the articles written under the threats of the advertisers etc'...It's not really surprising (and I knew it before) but for me it takes the fun out of fashion. I know it's a business and people make a living of it (I don't, so I don't think about it so much), but I feel that maybe we're missing out the many great designers while seeing the same names over and over in fashion magazines...

There he goes again...

My boyfriend is flying to New York this Wednesday...lucky him...And I have no clue what "orders" I should place...I mean, I asked him to bring my favourite perfume- Hanae Mori, because they don't sell it here, but other than that? I know that if I went there, I would know where to go and what to look for, but to send a boy to sample sales, outlets, vintage shops is kind of "mission impossible"...Any suggestions?

Playing with polaroid

I always had a special place in my heart for polaroid pictures. Maybe because all my childhood it was our camera of choise and we even took it with us when we moved to Israel from Russia.

The mood of the pictures, the way they mask all the flaws, the way they develop...it's all so familiar and lovely to me

this is why I was soooo glad to see this new application on several blogs and couldn't resist the opportunity to play with it...

P.S: I changed the template and still am getting used to it...I love that it lets me put bigger pictures here...

Pastels and peace

It was a beautiful day outside...Very warm and sunny. I woke up very unsure of what is going to happen, and by noon I ran to the shelter 2 times...Now I hear that there may be a chance for calmer times (I won't get all political just my own personal feelings)...

I don't know what the future will bring but for now I'll enjoy the quiet...and maybe willl have a long long shower:)

Because of the weather, I thought about summer...Pastel colors, sheer fabrics, flowers, sun, tanning...

Design Project

Photobucket

After finishing my degree studies, I'm about to finish my fashion design courses. I can't say that it was as pleasant experience as I hoped it would be. Partly because of me and partly because of the place I chose to study at. But one thing I learnt from this experience and that is I don't want to be a fashion designer...It's a lot of hard work and it requires a lot of patience, something I'm struggling with...

I don't mind to sketch something and then make sure it was executed right, but the pattern making, cutting and sewing is too much for me...I get so frustrated if I
don't do it right the first time and then finally I give up...

Photobucket

These are the sketches for my final collection. I'm making the first look, and I already messed up the skirt and have to do it again...sigh...

Sequins and feathers and beads

Lately I developed a "thing" for sequins and embellishments. Usually I'm a very conservative- muted or dark colors lover. But lately my closet started to fill with all sorts of sequined pieces, beaded dresses and clutches. I even bought a blue feathered handbag...(!) Some of the pieces are wearable and some of them are just for pure fun. Sequins add some sort of festiveness to everything, and lighten up even the most boring outfit...and that is the reason I love them...

These shoes have never been worn, I bought them 4 years ago, and just couldn't find the right occasion, but it doesn't make me love them less...Do you have some items that you love but just can't find the right time for them?

The perfect parka!

Photobucket

I've been looking for a nice parka coat since last fall, but somehow couldn't find one that filled all of my requirements...I almost gave up on the idea, when I saw this one in Topshop.
The timing couldn't be better: it was on 50% sale, and of course I took it home and wore the next day to a birthday party...

Should I?

Well it seems like just when I wrote that posting is not so easy right now, I suddenly got the means and the time to post...at least for now, and I'm going to use it properly.

The theme of this post is going to be capes...It all begun when I saw this wonderful cape on Germaine...it was from Paul and Joe. The cut and the color of this cape are exquisite and it creates really noble but "I'm not trying to hard" look...I was really fascinated with the idea of the cape but then slowly forgot about it while reminding myself that even if I love it, it doesn't mean I would neseccerily wear it...
Yesterday, while browsing around Ebay I stumbled uppon the exact same cape, only in gray. It is really wonderful and the color is even better for me since I tend to shy away from red...It costs around 300$ BUT it is Paul and Joe, and it's a very versatile piece of clothing that I'll keep for ages...and it's Sooooo chic...The downside is that I'm not really sure that I should spend this kind of money while being between jobs:)

The pictures are from Germain's blog and Ebay

I have to thank my brother for giving me his laptop, so hopefully I will be able to continue posting as usual. I have my design project to finish in a month...and there are lots of things to do....Who thought that sewing can be a scarry thing: I'm afraid I won't hear the sirens...

And this just needs to be shared:)

Sweet Escape

In order to escape all the mess I'm living in right now, me and my boyfriend and our friends spent almost the entire weekend in Tel Aviv and Ramat Gan...We went to Safari then had a good meal and then went to see a movie...and it was really nice to escape from our reality to a very different world...what a difference 40 minutes can make...

The pictures were not intended for the blog, so you'll have to forgive me for the wrinkled dress and the weird posing...my boyfriend is doing a good job though...:)

I'm not going to post for a while

As some of you know, I live in Ashkelon, and the situation here is kind of bad...I was going to continue posting but since my computer is on the second floor and the house isn't even made of concrete, I decided to give it a rest...
I will post as much as I will be able to, but it is very hard and stressing thing to go through so bear with me...the Hebrew website also will suffer a little, and I promise to get back to business as soon as possible...
