Working days 3

Israel is celebrating 61 years to it's existence which is of course wonderful. I love Independence day celebrations: the fireworks, barbeques and the general mood of this day...but sadly, when everyone will rest after the barbeque tomorrow, I will have to go to work ...

So I'm on with my "working days" routine for now :)
My vintage blouse and sweater arrived and they are a treat, I'm really glad to have them! Now I'm waiting for my dress...

Back to the outfit...I don't know what made me choose this dark outfit when it's so lovely and sunny outside, but the bright royal blue vintage Lanvin bag cheers it up a bit...

The shirt is my brother's by the way (from many many years ago).

Anyway, I hope everyone who's celebrating will have a great time!

DIY in process

This beautiful fabric was lying in my huge "to do something with it" pile for a while, until I decided to make a nice summer skirt out of it a couple of months ago, and then completely forgot about it.

Photobucket

Then, about a week ago I found it, and actually started the process! I didn't use any pattern because I hate patterns with passion and I can't do them well. When we started to study patterns at college, it suddenly hit me why most of the famous designers are men, it's like trigonometry or something! Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of girls who are amazing patternmakers but this is a very precise and time consuming thing, where every millimeter counts...so it's not for me...

Photobucket

Anyway, what I made is just fabric gathered on the belt, without any pattern. I'm thinking of maybe putting some sort of buttons and making a front closure, or just a hidden zip on the back...I'll make sure to post an outfit with the final result...

Kisses!

Working Days 2

This is my take on combining sailor stripes and the eternal combo of navy/black, white and red. I never managed to pull off cutesy styles, like sweet vintage sailor dresses of baby doll silhouettes, it always looked funny and weird on me...

Photobucket

I guess I'm more of a "granny fashion" kind of girl: I carry structured pieces well and also more grown up, more uptight stuff, which often makes me dress slightly older than my age. I will never look good in 90's short floral dress and Docs, although I adore this look...So I have to interpret trends and try to make things work for me (I guess it's something everyone does in one way or another).

The bag is a steal for 50 shekels...it's not leather, and I think it's the kind of bag you enjoy for a while and then move on to another one. But right now, I'm enjoying it:)

I'm making my mom discover her creative side by taking my pictures, I swear she gets better each time!
Have a great weekend!

Online shopping continues

Of course I couldn't stop after one vintage dress! On my online search for vintage dresses, I stumbled upon this wonderful website through Cammila's blog.

I really love their selection and passed on some wonderful items (Ungaro dress, sixties pink dress, Norma Kamali jumpsuit and amazing paisley dress) only to cut down to Hanae Mori blouse and Sonya Rykiel sweater!:)I just couldn't resist the design, and with Hanae Mori's blouse, I was looking for her clothes for a while and couldn't find something that was at the right price (many expensive and amazing items like this one, I just can't afford to buy) and of course right for me. I only hope the blouse fits, since the measurements are quite small.

Photobucket

If not, I will have to resale it (hope not)!
The sweater has shoulder pads by the way! It's supposed to fit like this and although I know that big shoulders are "in" right now, I'm not sure I'll be keeping them, we'll have to see.

Anyway, this (and a leather skirt I have aside at Stella) will end my shopping spree for the next couple of months, so I will have to "shop my own closet". I'm in the process of realizing all the side costs of my future studies and I don't want my student loan to get any bigger than it already is!

So much to do So little time

You know how sometimes you have so many things on your "to do" list but instead you focus on other things?
Like when I was in college I would do anything, and i mean anything instead of studying for the tests. When I know I should post some updates on the internet, I decide to spend some time with my friends, and the list goes on.
Right now is the same, only this time I have to gather some documents for my student visa application and learn Italian, but instead I spend ridiculous amount of time online...Is it me or is it like that with everyone?

But enough about that, back the clothes! The dress/tunic is from Zara and it's really amazing, but oh so sheer! I wore it to a wedding and had a small wardrobe malfunction: the beads started to fall like crazy, until I found the torn thread and tied it...

Photobucket

The sandals are from Zara also and they were on sale this winter, last pair, my size!
Love finding stuff like that :)

I love my boyfriend's balcony, but I really have to change the setting (we'll do that when he'll get back in two weeks)! Besides, it's impossible to take pictures without Becky (the dog), she has to be in the center of attention!:)

There will be a lack (or less I don't know yet, if my friends will agree to take pictures) of outfit posts, until my wonderful photographer will get back, with an upgraded camera!

Hope I will manage something, otherwise, I'll have to be really creative:)

Kisses!

Make up and other girly stuff

I'm a girly girl...Always was and probably always will be. Since I was little I loved make up: I still remember how good was the strawberry smell of my mom's bright fuchsia lipstick (early 90's) and her eye shadows...

Naturally, I started to wear make up quite early (I guess today it isn't considered early, but then I was one of the few), which I think helped me to figure out a quick daily routine which I carry until today. I never go out without mascara, and I usually also use eyeliner and some light eye shadow. I love Mac's jelly eyeliners (they require a professional brush, but last forever) and also ones from Loreal, since they're so easy to apply without any mistakes. Also I use consealer under my eyes, a light bronzer and then blush.

Photobucket

I know it sounds like a lot but it takes only 5 minutes...And it doesn't seem like I wear a lot of make up, which is important...
I love lip glosses as they're usually the most appealing on the make up stands, but although I have plenty, I often forget to apply them which ends in flaky lips in the winter :(

As for skin care, about a year ago I discovered Sheseido and I bought face and eye creams and a face cleanser. Although they were quite expensive, they last for a long time, the jars are quite large and they work for me. When my skin need extra help (I have really dry skin) I use Decleor face serum...

Photobucket

And of course I love pampering the body: bubble baths (with Lush bath salts and bubble bars, though not as often as I would like) and a body cream from Crabtree and Evelyn, which smells great!

Photobucket

Photobucket

My favorite perfume is Hanae Mori, who was clothing designer in the 70's and I was given a sample of her perfume by my aunt....I'm hooked ever since. My Lanvin perfume was a gift from my cousin, and I also use Crabtree and Evelyn eau de toilette which has a similar scent to my body cream.

Photobucket

By the way, my general moto for buying make up is to buy less (since we never use those huge amounts of eyeshadows), but to buy good quality basics that will serve you well and will last long...Maybe I should try that with clothes too?

Dreaming of Italy

Another non fashionable post...After dreaming of new clothes (and making some online purchases yesterday) I decided it's time to focus on the future and what's really important: my studies in Milan next year (Therefore, a tight tight budget for this month) . And as usual, when bored, my mind wanders around (And this post also helped)...this time I remembered our trip to Italy (I went to check the school out) a year and a half ago.

As you probably noticed, my boyfriend travels around a lot (and I mean a lot, but it's part of his job) and he's been in many places on different sides of the globe. I, on other hand only went to Germany and Italy, so I have a lot to catch up in the future. Partly because I spend all my budget on clothes (bad priorities, I know) and partly because I can never find a good moment for traveling...

This trip was our first and only trip abroad (for now), and we stupidly didn't take a good camera, so all my pictures were taken from a cell phone (and it didn't turn up to be that bad)...We visited Milan, Venice and Verona...Good times!

Verona: My boyfriend left a note in the Juliet's yard (Romeo and Juliet of course). It's a tradition to leave love notes and wishes there, so there were walls covered in thousands of little love notes and letters! Also there were padlocks everywhere!

Anyway, this one week wasn't nearly enough to explore these 3 cities (We were in Venice only for 1 day) and I can't wait to visit them and many other beautiful places in Italy!

My new vintage!

I love buying vintage...Although there's always the unknown element of fit, condition etc....receiving that package is almost like receiving a gift (even if you paid for it).
My favorite kind is buying vintage, just because it's cheap!
Yesterday I was on a hunt for a real vintage dress from the 50's, and I found some spectacular dresses, that unfortunately wouldn't have place in my life here or in Milan (too much volume and generally too much for me). I still watch some of them on Ebay but I think I will give in to buyers that will actually wear it.
My choice was much simpler: a floral light cotton 50's dress I won for 15$ (+12$ for shipping) ! It has a nice fuchsia belt and I hope it will have a nice fit...
